I have a 6 month old rat terrier puppy. They are kinda crazy-wild. He really chokes himself when I walk him on the leash with a collar. Would a harness be better?

I know this doesn't answer your question but I also have a rat terrier ( 10 weeks old ) he pulls on his leash and I fear I'll either choke him if his collar is too tight or he'll wiggle loose if it's not tight enough. I've been looking for a harness mainly for his safety and security.

no remember if or no longer your dogs pulls, a Boston Terrier is effective with a collar. A harness relieves the stress on the neck and encourages canines to pull, if it fairly is their tendency, because of the fact it makes it much less painful for them to pull away at you. Harnesses are fairly basically mandatory for toy breeds because of the fact their trachea's could be collapsed with the aid of even the softest tension on their necks, so in the event that they pull on a similar time as in coaching, they could fairly harm themselves. A terrier on the different hand, can surely handle the pull on the neck in the process the coaching technique. needless to say all canines could be experienced to no longer pull on a similar time as strolling, so harness or collar pulling should not be an argument as quickly as coaching is finished. we are coaching our Papillion with a harness and he's gaining expertise of purely effective that pulling = quit strolling.

I definitely think a harness would be better. Small dogs usually do better with harnesses than they do with collars.

a harness would be much better, as long as you adjust it to fit right, and be sure to measure the dogs neck to buy the right size (a small will probably do, but just to make sure)
