because they are to afraid to be on their own and they aren't getting everything they can from their partner and cant' find another person to be with at the moment.. being drunk and horney.. being those and upset about something in the relationship.. thinking that the other person is cheating.. they did something to make you mad or piss you off.. they come into contact with an X and want to try again even though theres nothing like that goin on in the X's head it's just sex to the X and your thinkin more..because the are weak and can't say no.. their confused and dont' know if theres more out there and they just wanted to make sure.. scared that they will never have anything different and wants to see if they want to be serious.. i can't think of many more reasons right now but i will be back to read what others say cause this is a great question and i would like to see what else it could be.. i don't cheat but i did twice on 2 of my X's and i think it is so wrong and i would never do it to my new man and i know he wouldn't do it to me.. plus we're always together or workin or phuckin' so yeah theres no time for that..lol good luck and best wishes!

I believe that people cheat out of fear. Being in a relationship establishes a certain amount of comfort and the fear of losing that comfort is often too much for people to take. There are many other reasons too, such as just being a jerk, afraid of commitment, afraid to get hurt. The list goes on. When I got cheated on, multiple times by the same person, I thought it had something to do with me. But really, it was in INSECURITY with himself that he struggled with. I unfortunately got the bad end of the bargain. But it always seems to come back to fear. That and maybe, sometimes the "cheater" grew up watching one of the parents doing it to the other and believed it was okay. Sometimes, its just too hard to leave. And other times, people think they would just rather have both. I hope this answers at least part of your question. I could go into alot more depth than this, but I dont think there is enough room or time for me to do that. ( I have done alot of "research" on this subject myself.) I hope that you are NOT experiencing such a thing.

I can tell you that I asked my husband why he cheated and why he didn't leave the relationship. He said that he felt alone and thought that our marriage was over anyway so that it didn't matter. I told him that the least he could have done was divorce me and then go out and cheat. His reply was that he was selfish and thought only about his needs, he still wanted to be with me but couldn't figure out how to work things out even though he tried so much. I don't know why people have to cheat, I think you owe it to the person you are with (married or not) to just break it off if you want to be with another. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

I think it's for many reasons. One, they want the best of both worlds. They want the stability of a relationship, but the excitement of sneaking around with people they don't have to commit to.

Another might be that a person isn't happy with their mate, but are afraid to break it off because they are too chicken to face the person, and hurt them like that. Some are more afraid of a break up, than they are of being caught.

Even another may be that a person isn't happy with their mate, but just can't stand to be alone. Finding someone else BEFORE you leave your current relationship, would sort of be like finding a new job before you quit the old one. They want to be away from that person, but not have a time when they're on their own.

People cheat instead of leaving a relationship because they can't choose between the girl/boy....so htey cheat... they probably tell themselves.."I'm just gonna cheat for a lil while until I know which one I love more"... than they STILL can't decide n he/she gets caught! Hope I helped! =-) :-) =0 :0

For selfish reasons I believe. They want to keep you hanging on incase the new prospect does'nt work out. Some also are just cowards and can't tell you that they're sick of you. There you go....a Selfish Coward. I'm sure everyone knows one.

because they have seperation issues....they are used to the one they are with...they don't know how they could handle it if their relationship ended...but at the same time cheating brings in new excitement and a sense of danger...

I THINK SOMETIMES PEOPLE JUST WANT TO GET OUT OF A RELATIONSHIP, BUT THEY DON'T HAVE THE GUTS TO JUST LEAVE. THEY FEEL LIKE IF THEY GET CAUGHT, THEIR PARTNER WILL JUST LEAVE.
