Thank you, but let us not forget those who have gone before. In my time, coming off the battle field and looking forward to returning to the states, I was glad after 2 years in Vietnam, to return to home base, unfortunately, I was spit on, cussed, treated like a disease, and one person tried to take my life, THANKS? Yeah you betcha to all those who have died and survived all wars, no matter what Branch of Service. Yeah, I was bitter at the world when I found out, the hard way how everyone praised their Vietnam vets. Don't ask me about the gore , blood, and guts, won't talk about it. I seen way to much and then some. ME? I AM THE FIRST TO WELCOME OUR VETS HOME. YOU BETCHA. THESE GUYS AND GALS COMING BACK DESERVE A WARM GREETING AND NOT THE TYPE WE GOT WHEN RETURNING FROM THE "NAM".

I have an idea. Instead of those stupid yellow ribbon magnets that people pay 3 dollars to put on their cars, there should be a fund at every bar that you can throw the 3 bucks in, and when a soldier walks in, they use that 3 bucks to get him a beer. That's how you thank a soldier, you treat him with respect and you treat him like an adult and buy him a drink.

What a pleasure to see someone post a question that is positive to those of us who have served (and either retired or were separated), are serving (on Active Duty, Guard or Reserve), or will be serving in the future (and that includes those on deferred status).

Yes! And remember, the next time you want to publicly say something stupid, you can thank a soldier for the right to do so.
