We have been datting for over a year now and was just curious as to other peoples views on this. I want it to be something that she will remember for the rest of her life, something very special to her. I wanted to do it on x-mas or x-mas eve, but I don't think I can wait. Ladies, would it mean more if you were proposed to on either of those 2 days ? And yes, I do have the ring. Thanks for your comments!

I love the idea of being proposed to on Christmas Eve.
Most of your young lives it is one of the most exciting nights of the year...so why shouldn't it be exciting when you are an adult too. Surounded by Christmas lights and festive fun..I say go for it. Then you can give your loved ones the great news on Christmas Day!! What great memories you will have!! Just be sure she is going to say yes or your Christmas is going to suck!!!

A ton of guys are proposing on those days. I would do it before then because girls sort of expect it on those two days. The best time to do it is when she least expects. Make her do a scavenger hunt or put a note in the back of the microwave with a ring so when she opens it she'll be surprised (I saw this on a wedding show and I thought it was really cute!) Good luck!

proposing on xmas day is sweet, but its not really a memorable turning point day in your relationship.
she may feel like you are trying to pass the engagement ring off as a christmas present.
choose a day that is significant to you. not valentines day though... its been done before...too many times.

pick a day which marks the anniversary to something special.
the day you first met? first kissed? first made love?
if you cant remember any of these dates.... then dont wait any longer!!!
take her for a nice romantic dinner....and propose to her tonight!!!!!!!!!!!

Are you sure you're ready? A year isn't that long to know you are ready to spend the rest of your life with this girl. But who am I to tell you what to do? You know more about it than me. Maybe you have known her for a long time. I dunno. Anyway, don't propose on Christmas. If you want to propose, do it now!! Also, if she says yes, tell her you were going to wait till Christmas to propose, but loved her so much, you couldn't wait. Make her feel really special to you. Good luck!

My dad had it all planned out. He was going to propose to my mom on the feast-day of Saints Joachim and Anne (patron saints of marriage). Well, about ten o'clock the night before, he called my mom up and proposed over the phone. He told her, "I was going to ask you tomorrow, but I just couldn't wait any longer. Will you marry me?" She thought that was so cute she tells us the story every year. I thought you might like to know it, in case you do end up proposing early.

I think Christmas eve would be such a magical day to get engaed on. I do like the idea of it not being on a holiday though.

I don't think the day really matters. Anyday you ask a girl to marry you she is going to remember it forever. Just don't put the ring in food or anything to drink.

Pick a day that is more special to you guys. Or even do it a few days before Christmas and you will probably really shock her!
