How can you tell if a guy likes you and is not trying to be friendly?

When a girl notices that a guy is being friendly with her, then chances are that he likes her.

I've read about a recent scientific study which found that women tend to misunderstand romantic interest from guys as just being friendly. And guys tend to do the opposite. They tend to misunderstand friendly behavior from a woman as romantic interest.

Of course if you want to be sure wether the guy likes you or not, then you have to test him. Tell him that you like him in a half-joking way, and observe his reaction.

If he likes you then he will probably misunderstand your joke as a confession of love. And he in turn may confess his love to you.

But if he is just being friendly, then he will interpret your words as a joke. And your relationship with him will remain the same as before.
