Do NOT get a perm. If you get sick of curly hair you will regret it. My hair is still fried from the perm (which made me look like a 90 year old grandma) and reverse perm I did a year and a half ago. I really regret it and the ends of my hair are still super dry and awful looking. I went to an expensive, professional hair dresser and thought they would make me look nice... but I was wrong... and it is a mistake I am STILL dealing with.

Use ionic hot rollers/curlers. It doesn't damage your hair and it gives you soft, beautiful curls. This is especially effective if your hair is thick and somewhat frizzy (like mine). Just be sure to apply a little leave-in serum so that it shines afterwards!

Good Luck!

Put some thin braids and wrap some hair around pieces of foil for overnight. Then in the morning open those and just curl few pieces with an iron. You'll have a perfect "beach head". By doing different kinds of curls you'll get that look that you see on magazines. Good luck!

Wash your hair. Let it air dry the night before you want the curls .The night you you wash it, before you go to bed, take small strips of cloth and roll your hair around is like you would Curlers. Do this with all your hair. Go to bed with the strips of rags in. The next morning take the rags out and presto. If you must brush it, use a gentle comb or pick, not a brush.

Try Caruso hair rollers. you can find them at Sally beauty supply. Your curls will stay a LONG time, and they're much faster than using a curling iron.

Also, try getting a texture perm. They're different than the old-stype perms and can give you a really good result when done by a professional!
