My friend just got married to an Indian and she lived in India for about 2 years before coming back to the US to get married. It was VERY difficult to get her fiance here. His brother, who was supposed to be the best man, was actually denied a Visa to come here. My advice is don't plan the wedding until you can get him here. She had to fly back to India for an interview with the immigration people and basically prove that they were getting married before he was granted permission to enter the US. They hired an immigration attorney to help them. You might look into doing that. My friend said that sped up the process for them. Good luck.

Yes, you will need a visa to enter India. The US does not have an open tourist agreement with India (as it does with some other countries. These open agreements usually allow citizens to travel as a tourist without a visa for a few months.) As such you will need to contact the Indian Embassy to apply for a tourist visa, wich will be good for 6 months, any longer then that and you will need to get an entry visa that would allow you to stay from 6 months to up to 5 years. You will need at least two photographs, and proof that you will be leaving (such as a copy of your return flight ticket) and there's usually a small fee. It's also a good idea to check in with the US Embassy upon your arrival. Further information provided below.

If he wants to live in the US, the best way is for you to file for a I 129f Fiancee Visa for him. He will have to go through the Visa process and Interview at the US Consulate in India, or the closest Consulate to him. Once approved, he will come to the US legally and marry you.

If you get married in India, you can file an I 130 when you return to the US. He will also have to go through the Visa process and Interview.

The I 129 or K3 Visa is usually the faster route to take to get him in the US legally.

go to uscis.gov website, all the forms and info will be there.

Yes, unless you are an Indian citizen you need to get visa to go to India, which you can get at an Indian Consulate in your area. I think you can google "Indian consulate" to find out their locations. For your fiance, I think there are papers to file for him to come here as a permanent resident, so you or him should hire a lawyer to help with the process. I would guess it's a lot cheaper to hire one in India and it's easy to find one there who specializes in this type of matters. Good luck.

To go to India, you need a passport. You can apply at the post office for about $60 and it will take about 6 weeks. You maybe able to pay more for a rushed processing. For him to come here, he will need to apply with the immigration office.
