Could be but get x-rayed and measured. My ex had back ache like that and a doctor told her she had one leg longer than the other and gave her an insole for her shoe to even them up. I asked her if he measured her legs and he hadn';t so she went to another doctor who found out she had a misaligned pelvis. This was corrected over time and all is well now. Just shows you need a second opinion. Check it out

Registered Nurse (Neurology):
You do not have a medical diagnosis of 'sciatica' and I (cautiously) agree with earlier answers in that you MIGHT be experiencing pain derived from actual or functional leg shortening. (The latter can arise out of previous injuries or surgery - particularly if metal pins and plates have been applied).
Even a marginal difference in leg length can ultimately cause abnormalities in spinal alignment and lead to antalgic gait ('limping'), poor co-ordination and serious levels of pain (lumbar spine, leg, hip and pelvic) - not to mention the potential risk of falls and secondary injuries. So a shoe-lift may be the answer.
BUT! You really do need proper assessment: your symptoms may equally be caused by disk herniation +/- nerve compression. Spinal problems have the potential to cause you major long-term disability. They deserve specialist diagnosis - together with appropriate pain management. (Which, by the way, is more than just dispensing tablets).

Don't waste time with conventional doctors, go see a chiropractor before it's too late. Your back is completely out of alignment. You won't believe how much better you'll feel after he adjusts your back. Get to one ASAP and you'll be all better soon. Good luck.

yes definately...you'll be able to see if you're body is out of line for yourself...stand face on in front of a long tall mirror, relax...look at the level of your hands...are they equal? From what you say (about your shoes) your left hand will be lower than your right...Theres lots of exercises you can do to straighten up your spine and make yourself more balanced...The nerve is pinching on your left hand side as the vertabrae in your spine will be misaligned, therefore creating pressure in this area.........

It sounds very possible. I have scoliosis - lateral curvature of the spine, and my hips are misaligned as a result. I have all the symptoms that you describe, so I would definitely recommend visiting your GP.

Would advise seeking out a Physical Therapist in your area for a consultation. Your state may have direct access so you may not need a referral from your doctor.

Get a magnet off the fridge and put on the pain.
The area needs circulating.
Put foam from your bed in your shoes for support.
