If you need longer for school related work, detail this work to her (maybe even ask her for help with it so she can witness how long it takes to find everything on-line). Then, she may reconsider. If it is to chat with friends, etc. then it is really her call, she is the parent and she pays the bills. One thing you may be able to suggest to her is doing more chores in order to earn more time on the computer. Maybe she would consider something like that?

You know what's not fair? When a kid spends too much time on the Internet and doesn't take care of her schoolwork or chores around the house. Parents seem mean a lot but usually they're looking out for your best interest. Make your time count instead of doing this.

first of all...i do personally think that it is a very small amount of time. With that said, let me say this...none of us on Yahoo Answers have any control over the rules of your household...Mom is boss, and if she is only giving you 30 minutes a day (even tho it may be crap) that's the amount of time you get...

How about using that time to research and educate yourself 1/2 an hr is more than some kids get cause they don't have a computer be thankful that you have that luxury

If those are you mothers rules, she has reasons why she has given you a half hour. Just abide by her rules and she may increase the time as she sees you are being responsible with your time on the Internet. good luck and God bless****

of course it's fair. she bought the computer,she pays all the bills, your food your shelter, your clothes. need i go on. as long as she's buying your following the rules. be grateful for the half hour. she could cut you off it all together

Well, you need to prove her you can do better in school or whatever is that you are failing at. If you can prove you can do well with the internet, then she should increase your time. But if you are just failing miserable, she should ban you off completely.

It's her computer and she's trying to keep you safe. Maybe you can ask her to let you stay on a bit longer on the weekend. Also, try doing things around the house without her having to ask, and THEN ask for something. Try it.
