Heaven is worth living for!

In the Beginning God created heavens and earth.
God gives you air to breathe and sunshine to enjoy.
God gives you water to drink and food to eat.
God gives you a wonderful body and sound mind, to live.
God loves you, and you are precious to Him.
Son of God died on the Cross to save us from condemnation.
Jesus’ love is boundless and everlasting.
We have the hope of Heaven through Jesus.
Life therefore has fantastic and glorious future!
(Digestion of above can even prevent depression and suicidal thoughts.)

When someone is that far gone to commit suicide, their mind is focused on absolutely nothing but their problems causing their decision to do so. They cannot bring themselves out of their state of mind alone, or the impact of the act would have on the family members. If someone knows of the situation, there is a chance they could help the individual out of the state of mind, and get them the help they need. I know a little about suicide. My husband lost his father at 5 years old. He hooked up the exhaust inside the car, and killed himself. 13 years later, his brother had extreme emotional problems due to drug use, and break up with a girlfriend. The day after my husband left for college in FL, he got the phone call. His brother had shot himself in the head and killed himself as well. His mother found him in the closet. My husband has hard times, once in a while, when watching father/son movies....or brothers being close and growing up together. He lost both. He blames himself not to be here at the time his brother killed himself. He feels he could have stopped him.
I guess that's all I have to say about that. I don't have a "professional" answer for you, just what I know by experience.

I'm assuming you meant to ask what emotional reasons. Is that correct? Well, a person who is clinically depressed is analagous to a schizophrenic in the sense that their reality is not necessarily the reality you perceive. You can't ask the schizophrenic to quit seeing evil clowns if that's what their brain is making them see. Same with the depressed person, they can't see the reality you perceive.

As for your second question, there are numerous reasons to devastate a family. This is too small a space to conjure all the possibilities.

If your second question somehow ties to the suicide question, then I'd challenge your assumption that a suicide is necessarily devastating. Sometimes alcoholic, child molesting, abusive fathers kill themselves. Many in the family would see that as a positive.

When you are in such a depressed state in your life, you're not thinking rationally like this. You're world is a mess, a disaster, and there's nothing good about it as far as you see. You don't think anyone cares about you, and no one will care if you're gone. You don't think anything will ever change. You feel there is nothing worth living for. Nothing brings you happiness. You don't see why the world needs you here anyway.
I felt this way for almost two years when I was a teenager. Fortunately, I do not feel that way today, although, sometimes I find myself falling back into that way of thinking, and that's when I know I have to talk to someone.

usually when someone hits the point to where death is a solution their whole view of the world has become distorted and lonely. From personal experience or past attempts when i was trying to kill myself I kinda dissassociated myself. I could see myself taking all the pills. Its usually out of desparation. Friends and family you really arent thinking about them much when the pain drowns everything out and you feel like you can hardly breath. How one reaches this solution is usually several cycles of feeling hopless and worn out by the process or just for the fact that the person has more pain than they can deal with on their own.

No one knows what it feels like to sit in the dark, day after day after day. No medication is working and praying for some relief from the pain of depression isn't working. "Where else do I turn, I ask, and why was I sentenced to this kind of pain that is almost a noose around around my neck". What did I do that was so wrong in my life to deserve this? What would you do or what would you think of doing? You can't walk in other people's shoes. Be careful of judgement.

There are some incredible books on this, namely one by Kay Refield Jamison, that I think you should go out and get. I don't know that I recommend getting your answers from Yahoo answers.com when it comes to writing a paper because you have no idea who these people are and whether or not they are telling you the truth. When in doubt, go to the books.
