I made a court date for a traffic ticket I recieved. Because I am a Paramedic I cannot have two more points on my license without getting fired/terminated. When I called in and made the date I asked the court clerk about taking a defesive driving course instead of getting the points on my license. The court clerk said I needed to talk to the prosucuter about taking driver improvement class or pleaing to a ticket that had no points to it. What are the chances that I can take a defenseive driving course or pleading to another ticket without the points?? And if I did take a difensive driving course will it show up on my driving record?

No matter what you do the ticket and points would show up on your motor vehicle record. If the prosecutor allows you to take a defensive driving class the course would not show up on your record until it is completed and the points should be removed at that time.

Yes, it will show up on your driving record. Most of the states that provide driving courses do so on a one time basis. That means that if you take it now, you might not be able to ever again. As far as pleading down the ticket, that would depend on your history and the offense. If you are a repeat offender, and does appear that you are, or if the offense was too severe (90 in 35), then the prosecutre will probably not want to plead it down. Call them to find out what your options are and stop screwing up.

|I fight mine all the time, it will come down most likely to the cop who gave you the ticket. |They usually keep notes on how the person behaved when pulled over, if you where nice then I say the chances might be good

go early to the court date, ask to speak to the prosecutor and tell you story and ask for a different charge

S BAd situation indeed. Talk to the prosecutor. Better yet, vbisit the prosecutor in person. Discuss your case and see if you can't find resolution. We are on the same side here.

If your job hinges on this, I would recommend talking to a lawyer in your area.

Adding where you're from to the question will help other people answer since laws differ from state to state.
