I recently adopted a kitten to keep my older cat (6 years) company while I was involved in my masters degree program. The kitten is about 5 to 6 months old now, and I fear that I may have taken her off kitten food too quickly. She and my older cat began eating the same purina indoor cat formula shortly after I adopted her 2 to months ago. The kitten has a horrible gas problem, but when I tried to reintroduce her to kitten food, she refuses. Now my older cat eats her kitten food, while she eats the indoor purina.

Any suggestions?

My cat does it too, its so bad. We got odor control treats from the pet store. Other than that I'd like to know what to do also.
We've tried brands and even been to the vet. He said some cats are just like that and recomended the treats

Your kitten's food isn't agreeing with her stomach. She can eat adult food now, though she would be okay on kitten food until she's about a year old. You could try mixing the two foods to see if she'll eat that way, and reduce the amount of the adult food slowly on her until she's back on the kitten food. Or you can just try another brand. She seems to have a sensitive stomach, so switch her slowly by mixing the foods at first.

Also, your adult cat really needs to get off of that kitten food. It's not good for her. You can control what they're each eating if need be by putting them in separated areas at mealtime, leaving them with their food for 10 or 15 minutes, then picking the food up and putting it away until the next mealtime. Once they realize what's going on, they will eat their fill in the time you give them.

You have to gradually change her food. Start with the old food, and mix a tiny amount into it. then the next day, add a tiny bit more than yesterday, and so on untill it is all the new food!

Go to your local vet and see if he has anything that could help. If that doesn't work, try putting her back on kitten food. If you give her milk, don't. That's just making it worse. It gives them either diarea or giving her the farts.

I would suggest changing her food. If that dosen't work ask your vet about asidophilis. It helps their insides. In fact we have the very asme problem with our dog and it really works!!!!!
