I have a Windows XP laptop. When I turn the computer on, a program comes up, (the same one each time). This is not an important program, just like a game. How do I remove it, so that it doesn't automatically open it self each time I log on to my computer. Also, how do I add programs to appear each time I log on, like this one.

Go to start and then run. In the dialog box that pops up type in msconfig. In that dialog box go to startup. All the things that come on when your computer turns on are checked. Uncheck the ones you don't want coming on.

Click "START" then click "RUN". In the text command box Type "msconfig" & click open. That will open the System Configuration Utility. Click on the Startup Tab & look for the program that is the problem. When you find it uncheck the box next to it. That should remove it from the start up program. That way it will still be on your computer but won't be a nuisance anymore. If you want to remove it completely go to "Control Panel" open Add/remove programs. If it is in there click on it then on "apply" to remove it completely.

Download and run Winpatrol below (free). Look in the startup tab, and disable anything you dont want to start automatically. Winpatrol finds registry startups that arent accessable in msconfig or your startup folder. This is good for preventing viruses or spyware from launching every time also.

Create a shortcut to the document you WANT to open. Copy it. Click on your start button > All Programs, and double-click on "Startup". Paste your shortcut here.

go to start and then to run...type in msconfig and hit enter

then go to the startup tab...it will list all of the programs that start and boot up before your windows can boot...the less the better...it will make your pc run faster at boot up if you have less things opening up. find the program and remove the checkmark beside it and then once you are finished hit apply and then ok. then reboot and see if it comes up again...also if it is a program that you are not using anymore go to start and to control panel and add/remove programs...find it and remove it..goodluck

There maybe things in start up that keeps your system going, if you delete the wrong thing, you may not even be able to access the internet. You might download the free version of WinPatrol, it will help you pick what you need to disable or keep...at start up.

you can go to start, control panel, performance and maintence, then click on shceduled tasks. you should be able to figure it out from there. also check the game's options menu, because often-times there is a box you can check that says start at logon, on start with windows.
