I doubt there are many 90 year olds on here so I don't think you will get a lot of responses. Ellis Island was closed a long time ago.

Both my parents came through Ellis Island in the late 40's or early 50's. The had to have a complete physical with no communicable diseases. They had to learn English. They had to know someone or have a sponsor. They had to obtain employment. After all was said and done, my father served in the Army in Korea and became a licensed plumber. He then also put in 20 yrs. in the Navy as a SeeBee. My mother worked odd jobs until my sister and I came along, then she was a full-time mother. (BTW, they had both become citizens almost as soon as they arrived).
My father is from Scotland and my mother from Norway.
They are both alive and well, living in So. Calif.

I can tell you about my grandfather who came through Ellis (he doesn't get along very well with modern machines like computers).
He came through in 1922 from Naples, Italy when he was 9. He came with his parents on a ship called the Providence. One of the other passengers on the ship died of typhoid during the trip. As a result everyone else who was on her deck of the ship as well as the one and the one above (the one my grandfather was on) were quarantined at Ellis Island for 2 weeks.
My grandfather is still alive and is retired. He's 94.

I had to go on a ship to come here.

We had to go though a tough immigration process in which we were questioned and had psychical tests and medical test. It was horrible I lost my brother and sister in the process
