I believe they go hand by hand when there's a spark between two. If the eyes invite you, you smile.

If you do eye contact, it doesn't work without the smile. It's like trying to make a fire with only some pieces of wood and no match. I would always walk up to a person with a smlile that gives warth, eyt a sharp look of eye contact to show they're not shy.

I would think that they both work. However, a smile goes a long way, it is a friendly indication between a girl and a boy. Eye contact sometimes seems to be mislead. A smile is definite.

I would say "eye contact".. you know that they are serious and listening to you.. and i like when i can lay with my man and look into his eyes and he looks back and i can understand everything he's saying without ever hearing him speak a word.. a look is worth more then a smile to me, and most smiles are forced, not to many people smile with seriousness anymore... i like your question and give it a thumbs up.. good luck and best wishes in all you do..

It depends on the person, and what kind of attiude they give off, but generally speaking I would prefer a smile. If a person just looked at me, it could mean anything (including antipathy), whereas if they smiled without making much eye contact they could just be shy.

Eye contact can mean focused but it can also be staring, personally, in most situations, I'd go with the smile. It shows a person that you're listening to them because you've given a reaction, and on top of that, it's a positive one. Also, they'll feel more welcome and relaxed once they feel like they're in a friendly enviornment.

I love smiles. I think eye contact can be sleazy if its not done correctly. Smiles are more inviting. They convey the message lets be friends and see where it goes. While eye contact says lets get to bed.

you can do so much with body language most seem to have no idea yoiu just have to think about what your doing and the emotion your trying to put across its all so subtle you can look at a picture of just the eye area and tell if that person is scared, angry, flirtatious, happy, lost in thought ect. I do better on average than women do at this but still my point is its all about subtle communication and its very powerfull.
