I would consult the schools principle on your concerns of the paddling. That should be a parents choice to decide on the punishment outside of "time out" situations.

In my opinion, the school should notify the parent of the situation at 1st hand.

I myself, would never let a teacher or anyone else spank my 21 month old son, unless it's my Mother, ect.

Good luck on this situation, it sounds like you are very upset. Maybe the school can help you out & you can make them understand your concerns.

P.S. My spell check is not working either--

You might get better responses if you didn't scream about it with all of your exclamation points!!!!!!!! OK, now, what is it you are asking so urgently? You make it seem like your child is right in front of you right now, over a teacher's knee, and if we can't tell you why paddling is allowed in Alabama, your child is gonna get it.

I don't know Alabama first-hand, but as a child I too lived in a state where paddling was permitted for schools. I didn't get paddled but that's beside the point. What is clear is that, if you are telling the truth here, then yes, your child could be paddled. Why? Because that's very obviously the law in the state of Alabama.

Did you really need me to tell you that?

If you don't like it (and I don't blame you - I'm in your corner, even), then lobby your state senator and representative. Start a petition drive with other parents. Get corporal punishment out of the schools. Get involved.

Just quit yelling and screaming at everyone on Yahoo! Answers, please. And spell-check works fine, by the way.

I stay in Alabama, and paddling is technically nonetheless legal right here, yet many of the college districts (a minimum of interior the component to the state that i'm in) have determined themselves to remove it. this is not practiced in my district. there is in elementary words one interior sight district i comprehend of that still does it, yet they do ought to have parental consent. I dont have toddlers yet yet i ought to by no skill enable my toddler to be paddled or spanked in any respect with techniques from somebody else. Any type of physicaly discipline is the mummy and father' pastime. I were given with the help of school only nice without ever having to be paddled. Even my mom and father infrequently ever had to spank (and with techniques from spank I advise a hand swat to the bottom, not a beating with an merchandise). So i do not imagine this is oftentimes mandatory to bodily punish a toddler.

How sad that schools still paddle. It doesn't seem as though you are comfortable with it. Is there another school your kids could attend? Sounds like you need to get out of Alabama.

Write up a letter and be sure to sign it, to the school telling them that they do not have YOUR permission to paddle Your child ! And have it put into your child's school records. I do not believe that teachers or any school officials should be allowed to spank or paddle any child. If parents do that , its considered child abuse, so what makes it OK for the school's? I lived in TX once and I had to write a letter to put in my childrens records because I don't believe that the school should be allowed to paddle or spank...
