The fact that you have to ask says you are heading for a lot of trouble. Maybe things will work out better with the 3rd or 4th wife.

You should call her, seriously. Especially with this being his second wife... she might have a fear that you really got along with the ex so you won't like her. It'll ease her mind. Lets face it, we all worried at one point or another that the mother in law wasn't gonna like us! It just makes it easier if you call her! Good Luck and Congrats

you should call her. It would make the relationship better if t you took the first step. I know when my mother in law calls, it makes me feel like I am part of their family and it makes me feel good.

Actually in more formal families it is the new daughter in law's place to call on her mother in law. But that is in stuffy overly formal familes. It is find if you call on your new daughter in law, it will probably make her feel a bit more comfortable.

Wow...it's like somewhere, there's a rule about who calls who...I guess I wasn't in class when they taught that one.

Please, feel free to be the one who picks up the phone first. Why on earth would you wait for her to call you?

Really, since you're already part of your son's family, perhaps it's appropriate for you to call her and welcome her to it (were you not at the wedding?).

just call her. otherwise, you'll both (or maybe she isn't) keep obsessing over the issue and you know you don't want to keep feeling like you have no idea what to do
