You are going to have to at least protect the fish from sticking to the grill. You can spray it with cooking spray. I suggest you leave the skin on. Use indirect heat for whole fish preheat electric grill.
I don't have any problem when cooking whole fish this way.

Spray with Pam, then wrap in aluminum foil, cook slowly.
