You need to talk to your boyfriend. I'm assuming you're both under 20. He is going to be away for a few months during boot camp, then he'll come back home for 10 days, and then additional training before he will be stationed somewhere or deployed. Go to marines.mil, military.com, or about.com and you can find a lot of information about the Marine Corps. If you want to just learn more about boot camp, then read "Making the Corps" by Thomas Ricks.
The Marine Corps is a warfighting organization. Although, there are many jobs outside of infantry, the Marine Corps is an elite organization.
If you need to know "things" and you want to plan your future with him, you need to talk to him. Generally, young marriages do not survive due to lack of communication, among other things. In addition, a young Marine does not have a lot of free time and add in the deployments...
Talk to him.

Your boyfriend will be "One of the FEW, One of the Proud" If he goes to San Diego you can go to www.usmcgradsandiego.org . Max Beerup, a retired Marine describes to you exactly what goes on in boot camp. There is even a training matrix that tells you exactly what your soon to be Marine (recruit until he graduates) will be doing every day. He won't be able to call much but he can write. I sent my son a few pictures of rock fest (mud wrestling and you get my drift) anyway the DI let him call home to tell me thank you. There are tons of chat rooms and web sites for Marine girlfriends and wives. My son is currently in Iraq and so is my daughters boyfriend, GOD bless your boyfriend and the MARINES! Semper Fi
