I don't believe God is the bad guy; I believe in God. But I have no more proof that Jesus is the son of God than Mohammad (or Buddha, Krishna, Zarathustra) is a prophet of God. After all, anyone can write a book, and thousands of people have. There is no proof that the Bible is the word of God. That is why I cannot, nor will not, accept Jesus as anything more than a philosopher.

Born into the faith, saw the people around me believing that Jesus was the magic elevator ride to heaven and started to investigate other religions. There are 2 things required for true Christianity. Jesus said that all you need to do to go to heaven is love god and love each other. This is also the foundation of all other religions. However within the Christian faith, there are those who believe that the only way to heaven is to read the bible, attend services, swear that Jesus is the only son of God, and what ever else the leaders dream up. They backup their lectures of what isn't approved by God with old testament verses. The whole time saying that Jesus died to break free the world of the old testament's ways of worship. Did it really matter to God that Hitler was a Christian? or that some person died before being baptisted? The God that Jesus describes is a loving being, his rules for entering heaven are simple. Know that it isn't the type of religion that will keep you from climbing heaven's stairs, but the actual love in your heart for God and all of his creation. This means Jesus, the old rich Jewish lady next door, the Muslim who just shot your child, and the homeless homosexual at the shelter all need your love and understanding.

Or how do I know I shouldn't accept the Flying Spaghetti Monster to save myself?
The fact of the matter is you have no logical evidence to support the theory of judgement day, Adam and eve, or even a god. It is all circular or just mumbo jumbo. While it still may be possible...it is no more possible than believing in the Flying SPaghetti Monster to save myself or Zeus.
Sorry. 8( It just wouldn't be fair to accept jesus with FSM and Zeus watching.

Sure. So, how do I go about doing this? I suppose I first have to convince myself that Jesus is some kind of god.
Let me concentrate reallly hard... One second...
Nope. I just can't convince myself that Jesus is anything but a dead guy, if he existed at all.
Let me try again... Nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.....
Sorry, but I'm still unconvinced.
I guess that believing something or not believing something isn't a choice. Either you're convinced or you aren't.
Luckily, you Christians say your god is really powerful. I suppose he could convince me if he wanted to. I'll just wait for his move. I'm already convinced that you exist, and you're a mere mortal. I doubt it would be hard at all for your god to convince me he exists.
hmmm...........
Well, maybe he'll try harder later. Perhaps he's busy.
hmmm. Of course, he hasn't bothered to in the last 20 years, either. I've been an atheist for at least that long.

Many of you will think of the Flying Spaghetti Monster as the bad guy on judgement day but why not change and accept PASTAFARIANISM NOW?

You are right. We are the ones in trouble and the loving God of the universe is trying to make us right with him. He even gave his very life to help us. Now if we stay in a fallen state we cannot blame God. We have to accept his provision in Jesus. I did and it is the best decision I made in my whole life.

I do accept Jesus Christ and always try to do my best. I wish everyone would do the same, then there would be no wars or violence.

I've already been there and done that and found it wasn't my cup of tea. So I'll take my chances on judgement day, thanks.

And you know this is true because you've died, personally met him and are coming back with a full report?
