I've had this problem before. I found out the hard way that you should take the nest box out when she does this. I had one die, and another one become too weak to fly. I ended up losing her also.
You need to forgo the breeding this season and concentrate on improving their diet so they'll be ready for next season.
Please also be aware that she could be egg bound. If her vent area is swollen, she probably is. With a bird this small, I'm reluctant to tell you how to remove the egg. I'd recommend taking her to the AVIAN vet and let them do it. Egg binding can kill.

In my journey, parakeets do extra efficient in even numbers with an equivalent male to lady ratio which will style pairs. in case you understand your parakeets gender, attempt purely getting between the different gender. objective for similar length and age if in any respect a possibility. And convinced, in case you probably did not improve the cage, the unique parakeet might want to sense that his area is being intruded upon. Get a sparkling, more desirable cage, and introduce the recent and unique parakeet to it mutually. there might want to nicely be some bickering in the beginning, yet except there is completely harm being performed, allow them set up themselves before you do something. even if, if all people is being truly aggressive and harming the different, separate them at modern-day.

I agree with Lynn take her to an avian vet to be sure she isn't egg bound. Although signs of this are sudden and death can happen in a day if this is the case.
Also I would state that you need to read up on breeding these birds before adding the box again. A pale cere on a hen means she is out of breeding condition. She needs to build up a store of calcium and vitamins in her body before she is ready to breed again.

if she is egg bound she will be straining, this is an emergency for the vet only, if it breaks your bird will die, otherwise try waiting a bit longer, a wild bird outside my window was sitting on her nest for weeks without laying. Are you sure the male is male?

The same exact thing happened to my parakeet recently. There's nothing to worry about. She is just in a quiet stage. There's nothing wrong with her. If she really wanted to mate, she would have made a move by now.
