look i'm a dentist...we commonly postpone a pregnant patient electal dental procedures after delivery ...but with the urgent cases that needs surgical interference like urs...with a coarse of antibiotics(((here the situation is different))...all that should be done after consulting ur gynacologist to get ur exact medical history ,the fetus situation , is it suitable to proceed with a dental procedure and what's the type and dose of antibiotics suitable for u regarding the available options....my opinion is..... if ur fetus is good and ur general health is good so u r ready and ur situation is suitable for this minor surgical procedure ...look u don't have to worry ...i think u have to visit another dentist and see what's his opinion((all i told u above is based on what u say about a swelling and nothing more.....u didn't mention any cause prevent u from having adequate dental treatment in my opinion)) ...... wish u health and good luck ..

Warm liquids will soothe the mouth and encourage the abcess to drain. As soon as that happens you will feel much better and eating will be easier. The penicillin will ensure the infection stays under control and encourages the abcess to collect and drain, whch is what the bubbles are that you are seeing. Until that happens, the nutrition drinks like Ensure are your best bet for keeping up your own nutritional needs. It's hard to say if the dentist will want to remove the tooth at this point in your pregnancy, after the abcess is gone, he may prefer to wait until after the baby arrives if it is at all possible. Once the abcess drains, it can safely wait until then as a general rule. In the meantime, take the medicine, and apply heat to the jaw. Drink warm liquids, and the Ensure. With luck it will drain on it's own in a few days. When that happens you will probably notice a really nasty metallic taste in your mouth, and you may even see the pus draining. At that point you can rinse with an antiseptic mouth rinse, and you should start to feel much better very quickly. Sorry to hear you are in this fix at this point. I'm sure you didn't really need to add to your discomfort. I broke a tooth at this point in a pregnancy and they tried to fill it so we could wait. It also ended up abcessed and had to come out. So I really understand your misery at the moment. But once they had the infection under control I did feel 100% better and things went well after that.
