yes , if your in a position in authority in a company you should always go to the company party, otherwise the employees will think you are too stuck up to socialize with them. which will make them more unhappy with you

A lot of companies have cut out Christmas parties all together for a variety of reasons most of them having to do with liability and finances. If your company has a Christmas party and invites you, unless you have a pre-planned obligation that day or night, its good etiquette to show up, socialize, and be on your best behavior. Don’t bring up work topics; don’t take your grudges with you. Just go, enjoy the party, and socialize with people you may not otherwise get to socialize with in your company. You can always drink Shirley Temple’s, or other drinks, if you don’t want to drink alcohol, and you don’t have to let your dislike of alcohol spoil a chance to mingle with other people in your organization.

When I go to company christmas parties, its far different from being with the co-workers at work... u see another side of them at the party. i've even gotten along better with certain co-workers after we've spent time together outside of our work environment. i'm a supervisor and trainer at my job. Some employees say I always looks mad so when they see me away from work, i think they realize that i am not as mean as they thought.
Go and have fun

go to the party and if it is at a bar, order juice in a drinking glass with ice, like a real drink. stir it and walk around, talk and let everyone know you are there. then say, that you husband is working and it is about time for him to come home. You need to leave and meet him for dinner. 20 minutes max

Go for about an hour, be polite and nice, don't drink, and when they start getting drunk, take your leave. Tell them you have a neighbor's Christmas party to stop in at. Let them know you had a great time, and call it good.

Gut up and go. You don't have to make a long evening of it.. Put on your happy face and sincerely wish your co-workers a happy holiday. I know, I know, but do it once a year for the sake of your job.

If you really don't want to go, then I wouldn't go. I would do whatever your husband wants to do, go somewhere else and have fun!
