The Holy Spirit is God's "active force" or his energy. The Holy Spirit is not an individual on it's on but the energy from God that He uses to maintain the universe we live in and when we ask, from your heart with the right motive, God will give us some of this energy to use. Some people tell of having prayed and been given extraordinary strength at a time of danger or a calming power that helped them to come through a difficult situation, this was Holy Spirit.

Gen 1:2 And the earth was without form and empty. And darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved on the face of the waters.

The Holy Spirit is, in a way, the emissary the Father and Son have sent to us. The Father and Son speak to us, guide us, and send us Their love via the Holy Spirit.

(John 14:15-17) Jesus said, "If you love me, you will obey what I command. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever - the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you."
(John 14:26) "...the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you."
That sums it up pretty well. Claims that the Holy Spirit IS God are about as specious as those that Jesus is God, or anyone else is God. There is only one God, and that is God, and He specifically instructs true Christians to heed no others.

The Trinity (in Christianity or in any other system) represents the three levels of divine spirituality, physical humanity, and collective conscience joining these two levels in harmony as one.
God manifests as the heavenly Father, author of life, or collective spiritual level of the Kingdom of God; the Son or Word of God manifested in the laws we follow by conscience, made incarnated in and fulfilled in Jesus as the bridegroom/Lord/husband for the church or the people as the bride of Christ; and the Holy Spirit is "speaking the truth with love" and "doing all things with love" -- the healing spirit of truth and comfort which is embodied in and unifies the people as one church or body of Christ, which you may think of as the spirit of the Mother Church, so the Trinity is complete. {Or, If you equate Jesus the Son with the people as the incarnated body of Christ, then the Holy Spirit would be the spiritual truth, love, and charity that joins this earthly human level with the divine level of God. I personally equate Jesus with the level of conscience that joins physical humanity with divine spirituality, but I have met someone who saw the trinity the other way, which is equally valid.}
The opposite of the Holy Trinity is
Satan, the Antichrist, and the False Prophet.
The opposite of God is Satan (as Love, Truth and Trust in good will are opposites of Distrust based on Fear or Ignorance, which causes false judgment and separation from God's truth); the opposite of Christ is Antichrist (as the opposite of true conscience and just government, equality and restorative justice is oppression by false government based on fear of change and false control and marked by unconscionable corruption, political competition and division and retributive justice instead of reconciliation to restore relationships); the opposite of the Holy Spirit (which brings harmony and healing by true teachings) is anything to do with false speech/teaching that foments war, conflict and division instead of unity and reconciliation among the people as one church living in peace.

The Holy Sirit is the third person of the Godhead, which consists of the God the Father, The Son Jesus Christs and The Holy Spirit. They were present throughout eternity and worked together to create heave and earth.
Before God created the earth surface the Holy Spirit was there.
" In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was[a] on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters." (Genesis 1:1,2)
The God the Father, the Son and The Holy Spirit worked together to create the whole creatures and plants on the face of the earth and in the water.
Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all[b] the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. (Genesis 1:26, 27)
God used the personal pronoun "us", indicating plurality, and yet they are one. That's why Jesus said I and My Father are one.
He said that after He has gone back to heaven, He will send the Holy Spirit, another Comforter, so that they do not become orphans, meaning left alone fatherless. Some people say The Holy Spirit is only an influence or a Ghost, or a Power, or even just like the air in your car tyres.
But unless the Holy Spirit is also God, how can Jesus say that His coming and taking His place on earth with prevent us from becoming orphans. If I die my children will become orphans, can I give them a "powerful machine" "computer" or "money in the bank" to stop them from becoming orphas, meaning fatherless, or must I send another human beings just like me for instance my younger brother, or my best friend to take my place and treat them as his own children, taking care of them and teaching them to become successful people in the future? So you can see that The Holy Spirit must be a Divine Personality who can take the place of Jesus.
That's why He also commanded the disciples to baptize people in the name of the Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit. Why? Because the Three Divine Personalities work together since the beginning in the Creation, Redemption and Restoration and upholding of all His creatures. John 3:16 says For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoseover believes in Him, shall not perish but have eternal life. Here we see that there are at least two Divine Personalities. If there is only one, the text should read: For God so loved the world that He came down Himself so that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.
Then Jesus also said that we should not blaspheme against the Holy Spirit because it would become an upardonable sin. If we sin against God, we can be forgiven, If we sin against the Son, we can be forgiven, but sin against the Holy Spirit, cannot be forgiven.
Why, because it is through the agency of the Holy Sprit whispering in our hearts, that we can be convinced of sin and repent. If we sin against the Holy Spirit as Pharaoh and all sinners down the ages until, that is refuse to listen to the Holy Spirit prodding, our hearts will be hardened, and we will be ummune and can not repent. Since repentance is the first and most important condition for baptism and salvation, so without that ingredient which is the result of the Holy Spirit's work in our hearts, we can never be pardoned of ours sins and be saved.
The Chinese character for the word "Spirit" is very amazingly clear about this Trinity, or the Three In One concept.
For the word "Spirit" the Chinese use "ling" which is written by combining the components: "rain" é¨+ "3mouths"å£å£å£(which also means 3 persons) + "magician/witch/wizard"å·«, meaning: The Spirit is like rain in its nature, the Bible uses the term "Early and Later rain" for the Holy Spirit, symbolizing its silent but life giving work in the seed that is buried in the earth. So the seed of the Word of God which is planted in our heart through the working of the Holy Spirit, grows and become fruitful in our lives.
The Spirit of God is Three in One. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” John 4:24.
Then the Bible also says that when God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, worked together in the beginning to create the earth, the acted in unison and just like the magician or wizard:
They just spoke and it happen or created. Psalm 33:6,9
By the word of the LORD the heavens were made,
And all the host of them by the breath of His mouth...
For He spoke, and it was done;
He commanded, and it stood fast.
That is the best that I can explain about the nature and work of the Holy Spirit. Of course I cannot say that I have made a perfect explanation, because God is impossible to describe as you describe another human being. If you can understand everything about God, than He is just the same like us.
It would be the same to say that a dog or a monkey or any other animal cannot understand explain everything about a human being, but we can study and understand everything about a dog or a monkey. So God can understand everything about us because He created us, but it is impossible for me as a human being to understand everything about Him.
But according to the Bible we will learn more and more about Him throughout eternity if we can be saved in His kingdom.
So my advice is, listen to the whisper of the Holy Spirit while studying the Word of God, because Jesus as His promised has sent the Holy Spirit to replace Him as He did 2000 years ago to the early Christians when He walked on earth.
