StoneHenge is located just outside the city of Salisbury.
It is on the A31 out of London about 2 hours at most.
We stayed in the Motel 6 at the A31 crossroads about 20 minutes away. Go to WoodHenge as well, on the top of the hill facing down over the Stones. Also go to Old Sarum, a Roman fort on the road into Salibury. Right across from Old Sarum is one of the best meals you may ever have.... little place with excellent food.
If you want to actually touch some of the oldest stones you won't be able to at StoneHenge. So go to Avebury Ring about 90 minutes away. For all of these historic sites, it is better to buy a long pass (I forget the name of it) this allows you entry into multiple historic sites
