Abi-
Here are a few of my favorite and widely available Belgium brews-
-Anything from St. Bernardus (Abt 12, Prior, Tripel are all great)
-Anything from Trappsit Rochefort
-While not Belgium, Unibroue is a Canadian brewery that brews in that style. Excellent choices all around there
-Chimay is good, but is a bit generic for someone really into beer
-Gulden Draak
-Anything from Cantillon
-Gouden Carolus Tripel
-Anything from Corsendonk
-Ommegang is a New York brewery that brews great Belgium style beers
-Duvel
-A quick note on Westvelteren: Any beer for sale from this trappist (monk) brewery has been on the black market and goes entirely against everything the monks who brew this beer stand for. Also, be aware that those bought on the black market will be extremely expensive and possibly not well cared for. But *is* one of the best out there.
These are all within the Belgium styles of beers, and he would be happy to receive any of the above. I know I would be!
P.S. Check out Liquidsolutions.biz - the biggest online inventory of beer I've found yet.

Things to consider:
1. How much do you want to spend? You probably shouldn't spend less than $4 or $5 per bottle for a good, unique Belgian beer, but you can spend up to $30 for a bottle if you like!
2. Obviously he likes Belgians, but what specifically does he like about them? What does he drink often? Is he a Trippel guy? Stout? Doppelbock? Then maybe go to the best example of a particular variety.
3. How much do you know about beer? I'd recommend going to a specialty shop and asking a bunch of questions, then making the purchase online. You might even be able to taste a few and find what he might like.
The Whole Foods in my hometown has a really knowledgeable beer expert on staff, and if you hang around their imports shelf for a while, he'll come and help you out. Again, once you get an idea of what you want, you can order it online.

Chimay would be good gift. There are 3 varities and it comes in a cool corked bottle. Plus, it's made by Trappist monks in Belgium. I've been able to buy it in gourmet stores in Dallas and Los Angeles.

I do not know if you can purchase online, but beers by Two Brothers Brewing CO. are great! You should try the Domaine Dupage!

I really liked Hacker-Pschorr Weisse- it's a wheat beer from Germany. Usually you find it only at larger direct importers and large amounts have to be special ordered. There's also Dinkelacker which is more conventional German lager.

Does he live dark beer or light beer? There are many options. You could go to Micheal Jacksons beer page ( not Micheal the pop artist). His job is beer. http://www.beerhunter.com/
