For an average golfter, which steal iron club gives them more distance (heavier or lighter club)?

What are the pros and cons of heavy and light steal iron clubs?

Hello alim

I personally feel that the heavier irons will give greater distance simply because you will make better contact because your swing will be just a bit slower.

Light shafts allow for a faster swing which is supposed to equate to more distance but if poor timming and bad contact result from a faster swing the ball travels a shorter distance.

On the other hand a low handicaper or scratch golfer will benifiet more from a lighter shaft.

To a certain extent club head speed is the important issue when distance is concerned. However if you can swing the heavier clubs fast enough then the heavier club will generate more distance. Shaft stiffness or flex also plays a role.

Heavier clubs give you more distance, it is a law of physics. The club head comes down with more velocity and speed due to the greater effect of gravity. The downside to heavier clubs is that they are slightly harder to draw back. The lighter clubs feel much more natural and are easier to swing.
