IE7 is, to begin my answer, a great improvement on IE6. You must have an authentic copy of win XP SP2 running on your PC, not a pirated copy. Microsoft will check this before allowing the download.

There is also the question of free diskspace and available memory. You don't say what the spec of your pc is. If you are trying to run Xp SP2 on 64Mb Ram and a 5Gb HD then it is not going to be compatible. Ensure that the correct specs are there. Another bit of advice, don't download it through yahoo, it is a microsoft product, download direct from http://www.microsoft.com - it is free to download and doesn't then need to be re-directed through mirror sites.

I had problems trying to get it from yahoo. Download it from the Microsoft site. If you have problems once it is installed, use system restore to go back to a date when everything worked. I mention this because several of my programs would not work with IE7, so I did that until I could sort out the issues that 7 causes. Beware, it's not 100% yet.

get it from here:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.mspx

you must have a legal windows xp sp2. IE 7 would run in any machine running win xp [all versions] according to microsoft.

you have to get Microsoft genuine authentication tool downloaded before you can download any beta software.just click start, control panel, automatic updates, click the link at the bottom they will scan your system to see if its genuine.if its not they will haunt you.is it worth it for a useless browser every-body's uninstalling.
