Many churches will still perform marriages even if you are not a member. A justice of the peace could perform a marriage anywhere. Some older churches have beautiful scenery during the spring or summer, it may be possible to have your wedding outside, but at a church. I would call local churches and ask what their pastor is capable or willing to do and what the fees to you would be. You can call during the week and tell the church secretary your situation and they will let you know what possible choices you have. My church is Lutheran and they will even baptize my nephew, and they are not church members. Good Luck.

You can have a judge marry you, you can have a ship captain marry you, you can have your friend marry you (couple clicks on the internet and they are an ordained minister). You can ask another non-denominational church to perform for you. I think if you get married in a church you have to have that person marry you. Why dont you look for a Church that has an outside where they can do it, like a garden area or something. There has to be one around somewhere. What about getting married by a judge at the court house and then see if your Church will just go through the motions with you. They wont actually be marrying you.

My husband and I got married at the site that we had our reception and hired a justic of the peace to perform the ceremony. The church that my husband attened would not marry us in the church because he was divorced which I find totally ridiculous because he was a member of that church for 5 years.

Anyone authorised to perform marriages in your state can marry you; it could be a priest, a minister, a justice of peace, etc. You should research the requirements in your state. We had an outdoor wedding, and a friend of ours performed the ceremony, he is an ordained minister of the Universal Life Church.

My husband I used a mutual good friend. Each state has a process that they can get 'licensed' for a day and do the ceremony. We got tons of compliments from friends and families and since we didn't have a church person do it...it still had that special touch. Honestly, it was probably the thing I got the most compliments on as it was so personal....EVERYONE cried!

Try looking for wedding chapels since they usually do both. My oldest daughter had a beautiful outdoor wedding under some white arches overlooking a large lake. they have complete packages ranging from simple to elegant. They also have all the connections for flowers and photographers at different prices to suit your needs. Near or in most major city areas there are several of these chapels. Best of luck for your future.

you can have a non denominational officiant to marry you guys outside.
but you really need to figure out if the ceremony will take place inside or outside first. then plan from there.

you can be married by an officiant- a secular person liscensed by the state to perform weddings. that's what we did. got married at the beach, had a non religious ceremony. we found our officiant listed online. she was wonderful and helped us decide on what sort of service and what to say. just try looking locally in phone book or online directory for wedding officiant

You have simply GOT to consider a wedding at sea!
A captain, as you know, is authorized to perform weddings at sea...imagine the sheer romance of it! Not only that, but the opportunity to wear something... perhaps blazing white chiffon?... that floats on the breeze!
And after, cocktails and dancing under the stars!
Heck, I'm so worked up over it, I want my husband & I to get married all over again on a Carnival cruise!
