sex isn't real???...oh my god...

no, i'm kidding.

the santa thing...when they start wondering or asking questions...about 7 or 8 roughly.

kids these days are learning about sex earlier and earlier, so depending on the gender, right before pueberty...about 12 or 13 maybe? I think I was about that age when I got the "talk". Just educate them and emphasize the CONSEQUENCES.

good luck!

I would say start telling your child about protecting them self's from sexual predators around 4. Make sure you use language that they can understand and always be open and honest with their questions. If they approach you about sex talk to them about it, but if by 10 they have not yet said anything go through the basics and see how they react to the information you are giving them. Santa is one that they will figure out on their own but don't destroy the magic of it before they are 9. My parents didn't tell me ever but I did figure it out by the time I was 10. The beauty of this is that I can still remember how much fun and how excited I was. Most people who were told Earlie don't have fond memories. Let you children be just that Children! God Bless!

I would think by the second grade most kids already have a rough understanding on these things. You may want to wait to tell them about the birds and the bees and old saint nick, but the words have already hit them. I would think from the time they can talk you can explain about the animal kingdom and when they are ready they will make the natural conclusion about themselves. As for St Nick I think there is a duplicity. On one hand they know where the gifts come from but they also want to hold on to the day dream of fiction. You will know when St Nick is fully fiction when the kids either tell you or they ask to go shopping to buy someone else a gift.

When they ask? Those two questions will be asked years apart. Don't worry about it. Kids learn more from their peers about sex than they do from us. Santa? They will figure that one out on their own. Do you know any teenagers or adults that still believe in Santa and the Easter bunny? I would try to keep the fairy tale alive in a smaller child because it gives them something to look forward to. They will understand when they understand. They will have that epiphany in their own time.

Well, you shouldn't have told your kids that Santa is real, because that's a lie. When you tell them the truth, they will understand that it's OK to lie. Too bad for you!

Concerning sex... let them ask their questions and be honest about it.

Tell them the night before Christmas that Santa is fake and sex is not real.

i would tell them about sex whenever they ask about it. I'm not saying that if for instance you are getting out of t he shower and your 2 year old son says mommy, what's that or why ton't you have a penis and then you give him the whole "talk", but honestly answer each question as it comes up. not telling our children until they are in their early teens leads to ignorance and early pregnancies. Let them believe in santa as long as possible, it's fun. eventually, their friends at school will break the crushing news to your kids. They need to hold on to that joy as long as possoble, when they are older, christmas is too stressful.
