Depending on his age, you give him only as much information as he can handle at this age, he will ask again, and again you give him as much information as he can handle. If he is very young keep it very basic.

When a man and a woman love each other very much they can choose to fit together in a special way to make a baby.
Part of each person comes together to make a baby who is like both the mommie and the daddy. The part from the mommie is called the egg, the part from the daddy is called the sperm (oh, like the sperm whale interjected my 4 year old- not quite but they do swim I answered)
then the baby grows in a special pocket the in the mommies tummy called the uterus. When the baby gets too big for the pocket it has to come out. Some babies are able to be pushed out of a little hole in the pocket, sometimes the doctor has to do a c section, shich is like putting a zipper in the mommies tummy.
My son was pretty happy with this explanation. A few days later at mazzio's with our friends he announced that he wanted to sho everyone how the baby was going to get out of mommie. He grabbed my shirt and pulled it up and pointed to my belly button as I turned red and pulled my shirt back down. My friends don't let me live that down easily.
Alternatively you could watch the nature channel and explain with the animals. Might keep you son out from under you shirt!

Always tell them a version of the truth that is appropriate for their age. My three year old know babies come from mommies as he sees pregnant women here and there but that's about it and he asks no more. He also knows the word penis although not the word vagina. My 10 year old knows thet basics of what puberty is, what changes he can expect to occur soon, what changes girls experience and the biology of sex but we started talking to him all about this little by little as he;s grown. Just kept it at a level they can understand and answer only what they need to know for their age.

It depedns on how old he is.....I found out where babies actually came from when I was 7. So use your best judgement and decide whether or not to tell him the real answer.

I would be honest with him. don't tell him the myth a stork brings them to their mommy and daddy. Tell him the truth just don't be so graphic. You could tell him... well, thats to far for me to go but you can deside what he sshould hear at his age and what he shouldn't. Just stick to the truth!
