My daughter is getting married in July of next year. I was looking for some money saving ideas for her wedding. She is planning to do it in her back yard. She has been working on her garden. And I am planning on building her a gazebo to be married in. Thanks everyone!

You can print your own invitations and wedding programs with a laser printer. They sell that stationary everywhere. A DJ is a great idea then you'll have a variety of music and no repeat songs unless, of course, they are requested. David's Bridal sells wedding dresses at deep discounts if she's okay with picking thru what they have. Make the center pieces with a variety of potted flowering herbs in baskets spray painted the colors she is choosing and let the guests take them home. Keep the flowers simple - you don't have anywhere for them after the wedding anyway.

I saw the cheepest outside July wedding ever. I think they spent more for the groom's dinner than the entire wedding!

The groom had shorts on with a cell phone hanging from his belt. The programs were a mess. I gave the bride a draft and she took them to a print shop without telling me, and they printed them exactly as the very rough draft was on ugly colors, yet. The cake was dry. The food was ok, but how can you mess up cold cuts and rolls? The JP had to split right after the ceremony to be at someone's baseball game.

Sounds like you're more on track for a nice wedding, though. The flowers she's working on will be a lovely touch, as will your gazebo. Maybe do a pot-luck picnic thing; splurge a little for a nice cake. Dollar store decorations. or just go with the flowers. I think my biggest expenses were the food and the cake.

Start shopping around now for flowers. We found that a local grocery store near us had better prices and nicer flowers than most of the florists. Print your own wedding programs, get a DJ for the reception, cheaper than a band.
People tend to go crazy on weddings, just try to stop, put it into perspective, and only include the essentials. Also if you can make something, or know people in related businesses, they can help.

One of the best receptions I was at was a barbecue. Everyone enjoyed it because they said it was relaxing and fun like a huge family reunion. The men and kids especially enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere.
