many people make up Hadiths to control people in Islam.
I am a Muslim musician, the people who believe music is haram are extremists. It was forbidden under the Taliban. THose people have lost their minds, most of those type are just verbal and their crazy ideologies. It is not help for them.
This is the beautiful thing the Quran says about Music. David was a great Musician.

34:10] We endowed David with blessings from us: "O mountains, sing with him, and you too, O birds." We softened the iron for him.

[34:11] "You may make shields that fit perfectly, and work righteousness. Whatever you do, I am Seer thereof."

What was given to David is called Zabur which is the Arabic equivalent of Psalms:

This term zabur is the Arabic equivalent of the Hebrew zimra. The Hebrew word has the meaning "song, music". It, along with zamir ("song") and mizmor ("psalm"), is a derivative of zamar, meaning "sing, sing praise, make music".

You will find some ultra extreme Islamic groups (such as the Taliban) who forbid all music.

The Church of Christ does not believe in using musical instruments but just the voices singing to praise God. Because they say it only mentioned to sing praises.

(Funny how it mentions the harp etc in the bible)
