I thought of this instead of buying a bunch of crappy gifts that would amount to one very nice one.

Not a good idea. Do you really think a 14 yr. old deserves a television that costs almost as much as a car? Why don't you get him some nice, *practical* gifts instead.

omg!!!!!! 65" tv, no buy me 1 instead, on a serious note no na and no way, hes 14 yrs old you should be gettin him ready for the big bad world not spoiling him with gifts that lets face it are not that essencial, and no doubt you would be buying this tv to replace the tv that is already in his room which has probably done him up to now, if there is no tv then maybe not a good idea to let him have one at least this way you can always keep an eye on what he is watchin!!!! and as for the four hour thing "we were all teenagers once and i can more or less guarantee you he is sneaking some kind of tv watchin behind youe back"

Shocked! I wish my parents can buy be a 65 LCD TV, and I'm old enough to buy my own. Your son at that age does not need a TV that size. Maybe something 23 or 27 inch LCD would be better. A kid that age does not need a TV of that size. I was spoiled when I was younger but not like that, but I learned to work hard for my money and pay my bills. Spoiling kids is not a good thing. I hope your son appreciates everything you've given him. Hopefully when he is older he, will also learn to work for his money.

Where does this CHILD work? How much does he contribute to the paying of the bills around your house? See...this is why kids grow up spoiled and not understanding the value of things because they get outrageous gifts like that. If he only watches tv a few hours a week or day or whatever why does he need a 65in lcd tv? Come on now!Uggh...

This would be an awesome gift for him and as a 14-year-old I know that I would love it....but ask yourself one thing: does he need it? If he already has something like it, he might enjoy a gift certificate for an electronics/video game store worth the same amount, and if he still wants it, then he can buy it there! He will like the choice and feel like you trust him w/ the money.

No 14 year old needs a TV that awesome. Actually, 14 year olds don't really need a TV at all in their room, but that's just my opinion. That's what the den or family room is for. If you do buy one, get it for the whole family that way everyone can enjoy it.

If you believe that it will help with his grades, then yes, by all means get it. Don't worry about spoiling the lad, you have probably already done that. Since his room is big enough for the TV, why not buy him a living room set to go with it?

That's ridiculous. He doesn't need a TV that big. Why would you spoil a child like that. He only watches TV for 4 hours a week so it would just sit there un touched.
WAIST OF MONEY!!

NO. There is no reason a 14 year old should be getting something like that for Xmas...his expectations will then always be high...for the rest of his life.
