Herpes varicella virus causes chicken pox and no everyone does not get it even if they are exposed to an active case although in this event they are likely immune. Everyone is my age group (I am 55) is presumed immune irrespective of whether or not their mother remembers an illness similar to chicken pox. A varicella vaccine became available in Japan in 1978 but this vaccine was only licensed in the United States about 10 years ago and it has only more recently been widely employed. As with any 'new' vaccine it will take time to determine its efficacy although it is clear already that many develop only partial immunity after the vaccine.

Chicken pox is caused by a virus and no you won't get chicken pox if you are not exposed to the virus. There is also a vaccine out now for it so if you have never had chicken pox as your doc about the vaccine.

It is caused by a virus. You can get it more than once since the virus changes over time ( that is why you get the flu every year different stains of the same bug). In most case you get it once as a child and your done but in a small number of cases you can catch a different form of the virus and get infected again. Adults with chicken pox can be at hire risk due to changes in the immune system that allows children to with stand some disease that would kill adults ( Mumps).

Not everyone. If you get the vaccine against it you won't. If you get them the symptoms are fever and the itchy rash. :P It is a really good idea to get the vaccine because you will be at risk for shingles later in life if you get the chicken pox.
