In Texas Hold'em, a lot of folks forget that each person uses the best out of the 7 cards in front of them...

So, regardless of what you have in your hand, you have to look at the table cards:

Ac Jc 8c 2c [and a mystery card]

Your hand: 10c [and a mystery card]

So your hand, at this very moment is: Ac Jc 10c 8c 2c (Ace-Jack-10 flush)

Add in your opponent's hand: Ac Qc Jc 8c 2c (Ace-Queen-Jack flush)

Your opponent wins the pot. The only time the pot would split, would be if the table made up the best five-card hand for both players, so no one's hand would win.

----------------------

Here's an example, slightly modified from your situation, to one that would actually be a legit reason for a split:

Table : Ac Kc Jc 8c 6c

You: 5c [and a mystery card]

Opponent: 4c [and a mystery card]

Because the best five-card hand is on the table, you split the pot.

The gist of this answer -- The best FIVE-CARD HAND wins the pot in Texas Hold'Em. Period.

Your AJT82 of clubs would lose to AQJ82 of clubs because of the higher ranking of the cards.

the ace is a community card so it goes to the highest card in your hand so ............ in that case your opponent would win
