Can anyone give me any ideas for a christmas present for my Dad? I am sooo stuck! I usually get him toiletries so wanted to get something different this year, he does like to drink but don't want to encourage that. He doesn't wear watches, jewellery etc, isn't really into gadgets, he does like motorbikes but that doesn't seem to be helping (can you understand why I'm struggling?! hehe). I really want to get him something nice (not the usual christmas tat) but only have about £15 to spend. He's in his late 50's. Any ideas would be much appreciated! What have you got for your Dad? Thanks

Joleen, I'm sorry hun, but had to give you a thumbs down...this is my Dad we're talking about here! I'm in the UK so no guns and he drinks far too much - his beer bellies bigger then a pregnant woman about to drop so alcohol really is a no go area! Thanks for all your suggestions so far though! :o)

This is not an answer you ask for but.........
Don't forget its not the cost of the present or even the present its self, its the thought behind the giving. What ever you get him he will love it, because its from you. Bye the way a nice hug and kiss from his daughter is worth a mint.

Hi, this sounds just like my dad!
If your dad actually has a motorbike why not go on Busters website? they have loads of gear for bikers at really good prices. They have gloves for around £15 or disc locks from £10. Or if he has a sense of humour try "Far Canal" t shirt website. They have some really funny t shirts, especially for bikers.
For xmas last year we bought my dad tickets to see a bike show near us, he had a great day and it was something that didn't cost the earth.
Hope this helps, but remember if your dad is anything like mine he'll love anything you get him cos it was from you!
Byeee
If not

Go to www.gifts.com. When you get there, you can use the shop by personality option which lets you pick whether you are shopping for a man, woman, girl, or boy & then it will take you thru a series of questions to get an idea of what kind of person he is. When you get thru that a lot of gift ideas will pop up. Even if you don't find exactly what you are seeking, it'll help get your ideas flowing. Good luck~

if you have a digicam/camcorder, make a video of all pics of the family/lil video clips of the family. If not then use a regular camera or get copies of pics that mean something to him and you and make a personal photo album for him. Something personal like that will mean alot more to him, it shows you have actually thought about him, and not just gone and got a thoughtless gift. Doing this will also be alot of fun, taking new pics and looking at old memories. Hope this helps and good luck have fun :)

I think if you buy him a small piece of jewellery he may surprise you and wear it, because its the love and thought behind the present that makes it special. I had the same problem a few years ago, but believe me, he will be happy with anything you give him, because you gave the present.

I would have suggested a bottle of Glenfiddich single malt, 12 yrs old. but you don't want to encourage alcohol consumption. If he like it then thats going to make him happy, without drinking it all at once....

Perhaps you could take him to a football match, or perhaps a speedway night. perhaps you shouold get him the Diary of Michael Palin - the monty python years.....i've just got that for my dad....

is there anything that reminds you of him, or is there an animal he likes? Ex: my dad likes eagles and wolves, and he is a retireded military, so i get him statues or little square light up crystals, with eagels with flags or statues of wolves, paintings, stuff he can set around his house or hang and up to remind him of me when ever he looks at it. That way i know its a present that can last.

Fathers are usually hard to shop for. I dont know what to get my pop either, try just asking him out on a 'date'. go out for supper and treat him. spend a father daughter day. hug him and that would be a priceless preasent and i doubt he will ever forget.
