You have gingivitis and don't take proper care of your teeth. You need to see your dentist.

it could be lack of vit c which shows in tissue break-down. It could also be bad oral hygiene, i assume you brush and floss reguarly to remove rotting food which can cause your gums to rot. it could also be a gum disease- use a mouth wash twice per day , after brushing to kill bacreria. If it is serious ( FAIRLY INTENSE) and it sounds like it, i strongly advise you see a dentist immediately, both my mother and grand mother got a gum disease called pireah ( not sure how it os spelt) and both lost all their teeth in a week or so . so don't fool around if it is happening whilst you sleep and it is more than one or two drops , it sounds serious, mind you , you could be biting your lip or toungue whilst asleep only you can judge.
The other issue is do you smoke,? Vit c is depleted by tobacco smoking, as well as that you could have mouth cancer, please get it checked out asap.

If you haven't been hit in the mouth or otherwised injured recently, bleeding gums is almost always an early sign of gum infection or gum disease. You should see a dentist before it gets worse.

You need to see a dentist, probably gingivitis but if its that bad it is gonna need some proper treatment. Other health problems can cause your gums to bleed also, you need proper medical advice.

Hardly ever such a thing happens overnight or without knowledge. You seem to be lacking in oral hygiene if it is due to gum disease. You may get consult with a periodontist for this. You may also get yourself checked for suspected BP, bite and bruxism problems.
