It changed my mind. When I was leaving the Navy I still had a3 years Reserves obligation. I intended to join the Air National Guard and go back to school, collect my GI Bill 7 have the Guard pay for my education.
i changed my mind really quickly though when I realized that guardsmen were serving even longer in Iraq than active duty.
Your fam shouldn't worry though. The AF is the safest branch you can join. Ever noticed how few of them make the evening news?

Neo-- If you make one more sexiest remark I may just have to clock you, I don't care how old and gray you are!! I am in the Navy, I am a Hospital Corpsmen and I have done a 6 month tour to Afghanistan. 12 hours on, 12 hours off... I flew in Medevacs and I saw stuff that no person should ever have see!! For you to say that this girl will spend her time cooking and cleaning is just pure old man ignorance!

I've been in the Navy for seven years and never regretted it a minute. Part of the Sailor's Creed is to "defend freedom and democracy around the world" that has taken me on several deployments to the gulf and I'll continue to go for as long as needed.

I was actually planning on joining the army nat. guard or the marines right before they shipped soldiers off to Iraq. Never did though. I guess tuition re-embersement was more important than going to war.

Especially after seeing the war in Iraq I would not want to join the army. I don't mind defending my country, or even dying for it. But fighting for my country's leaders political and economic ambitions - no thanks.

Good for you dear, we need good ladies in our services to cook and clean the uniforms, you'll be nowhere near the war front so don't worry your pretty little head about fighting. I done my time in Nam and would gladly do it all over again. I've had no greater privilege than killing gooks for my country

Good for you, that's very noble of you.
I've always known I'm not suited to military service, and now that I'm a single mom I'm even more resolute in that determination.
