My Mom got her first tattoo when she was 65. She got the logo of her business (a stylized tulip) on her ankle. To her, the ankle just "felt right."
Similarly, think fondly of your friend and find a mental image of what "feels right" when you reflect back on your friendship together. It'll come to you.

Well, if you are still working, unfortunately appearance can matter what happens in the career world today... maybe on the small of your back? or somewhere less noticeable... this can ensure you can show it when you want to and hide it when it is necessary... also if it is hidden, it will be closer to you and what the dragonfly symbolizes will be close to you as well...
Hope I helped <3

Obviously getting a tattoo is a major decision - I have five, one on my ankle, one on the small of my back, one on a shoulder blade, and two on each arm. Of them all, I enjoy the one on my ankle the most because I can see it when I want. The two on my arms have made dressing professionally a bit difficult and the two on my back I can't see unless looking in a mirror.
Also, the one on my ankle didn't hurt as much as the others (not sure if this was based on location or not, although I have been told that it is one of the least painful sites).
You can always place the tat on the inside of your ankle - which prevents it from being readily seen, unless you want to show it to someone.
As you probably know, tats require aftercare and a tat on your ankle is easier to reach than one on your back and makes it easier to clean it and care for it, ensuring that your color stays, and that your tat is always as beautiful as the day you got it. Good Luck and Enjoy!

Well, I'm sure this isn't pleasant to think about, but are you planning on doing things to maintain skin tone and elasticity, up to and including plastic surgery? If so, I would suggest talking it over with the tattoo artist, to choose a place that is (a) minimally painful and (b) meaningful.
Otherwise, you really need to consider the fact that you'll soon be sagging, sorry to say. Areas with the fewest wrinkles inbound are: forearms, shoulderblades, hips (though here you should consider potential weight gain), shins, and feet.
A tatto can be a tremendously healing and spiritual experience, and I congratulate you on your choice of image to remeber your friend. Best of luck to you.

I used to take water aerobics with a woman who had a dragon fly on her back/shoulder area and it looked really sharp. I personally would put a tattoo on my ankle, if I was going to ever get one. (been thinking about a bluebird on my ankle for about 12 years now)

I think in between the shoulder blades or on lower back. But also the ankle one sounds good to me.If you don't like pain that much then I would say on lower back in the middle.

I would get it somewhere where you can see it, as it is a tribute you should be able to see it without having to get in acrobatic postions to see it in the mirror.

Honestly, I don't think you should. Until you talk to your doctor, your skin becomes thinner as you get older and the healing process is also slower. I would think that bruising would be a factor and staph infection. Talk to your doctor first, not the tattoo artist. It might be safer to go bungee jump.
