A lot of it depends on your phisical stature. If you are but a waif, ballet might be better. If you have a lot of muscle in your legs and are a little heavier than 130 lbs, tap might be good. Hip hop can be done by anyone, but isn't so much based on technique, but could look cool in a night club. If you are trying to pick up technique and better yourself, go with jazz. I am personally a fan of ballroom :)

Take any type of sport or dance that you like and feel comfortable with. I just today joined my school's concert band and every body there is better than me but the teracher is really nice. If you do finally come to conclusion ask your coach or instructor if they can help you out before class or after class. It can become a big advantedge and you will enetually caych up.

Stop being so negative. It doesn't matter how old you are either. If I were you I would go to a dance instruction studio and tell them your dilemma. Try a few different dance syles with them and see which one you like the best or do them all.

do whatever, as long as your hearts in it. you'll never be good at something if you dont really wanna do it. i played softball (ugh) and was horrible with hand-eye coordination, then played basketball (which i love) and was MVP. so it really does matter how much you like the thing. try whatever, but mostly, dotn try to be better than someone. just try to do your best! (that sounds stupid, but its really good advice!)
