Advil works really well, also apply some Ambesol to the gum area at sides and in between. I took two more Advil when the pain returned. This really worked for me for a front tooth that ended up needing a root canal. Holding cool (not cold) water against it relieved the PAIN, but only for about 30 seconds at a time. After getting relief from the pain, do call the dentist - something has to be done, drilling/filling a cavity, root canal, maybe a crown too ($$$) - the pain won't go away, not until the root dies, then you will get an abscess, infection and more pain, and might have to lose the tooth.

The first thing you have to do is see the dentist to find out what is causing the toothache. Toothaches are not the normal routine and means something is wrong so see the dentist and get this checked out.

I got rid of all my teeth. That stopped mine. You might want to think about that 1 tho cuz they can't put 'em back if you change your mind later.
