At Christmastime she makes "suggestions" (as she calls them)....she tries to tell everyone (her immediate family) what to buy for each other and when we say we were planning on getting something else and don't buy exactly what she suggested, she gets her feelings hurt. Then she calls me and says, "See what happens?" "You try to be nice to people and they cut you down." Don't get me wrong, I love my Mom very much, ......I just wish I didn't have to deal with her holiday behavior. lol

It sounds as if she does not have enough going on in her life to be so involved in yours. Some parents just do not know how to deal with their children as they grow up and sometimes its hard to let go. I would simply tell her, "I thought you raised me to be independant and that you will not always be there to tell me what to do and what to think."

Because mums are usually desparate for everyone to have a so-called "perfect" christmas just like we see on the tv, so they try too hard and then get hacked off when it goes "wrong" in their eyes. You could try not asking for her opinion or if she offers one just say you got that person's gift already. good luck lol

Because moms still think they are in charge after the kids are grown.

maybe think about what she suggests. maybe u can add onto it to make it better. or just tell her that maybe u can do that next year. dont completely blow her off. shes your mom. give her some say.
