Does it have to do with the fact that the cold slows down the function of your immune system, but has less of an effect on the attacking organizms? That's the only guess I have...

The cold weather doesn't give you the cold, the cold weather breaks down a tired body that needs sleep, is maybe overworked, needs food, all this together weakens the body and the viruses seep in, one by one, all fort seven of them or, there a- bouts. The headaches, the sore muscles and aching joints, the sore throat, etc. your body will react according to how broken down you are. If you've had...Oh! pneumonia shots, you may not get all the symptoms and the rest may be light, etc.
If you recognize it right away and go to bed, get rest and sleep, eat, drink plenty of fluids etc, you'll make it easier.

You never actually "catch" a cold. A cold is actually a virus, which means that once you have it, it never goes away. What happens is that your immune system is able to supress the virus. People tend to "catch" colds in colder weather because their immune system isn't as strong as it normally is due to the fact that your body's using a lot more of its energy trying to maintain warmth.

You don't get a cold from cold weather or there wouldn't be "summer colds" now, would there. It's the germs carried by people or in the air. The season has nothing to do with it.

It is not the cold per se that causes you to catch cold. It is that everyone is indoors, the windows and doors are closed, thus making it a great place to harbor and spread disease causing organisms.
