My Windows Movie Maker program has stopped working properly and I have been advised to re-install SP2 but I wondered if it alters or removes any of my programs, settings or files as I dont want to re-install all my programs etc.
So does re-installing SP2 remove anything?

Reinstalling service pack 2 on your computer shouldn't change anything in the way of programs.
If there are programs on the computer that require service pack two and they are not working, then they will work.
Having said that, I wonder why it stopped working in the first place? A virus? If there is something of this nature, then you may have more serious problems.
Also, personally, I would remove the old service pack two before reinstalling it.
