My Westie within a day of a bath or even pro-grooming gets a B.O. She does not run loose.

I would take the dog to the vet and get it checked out if it's that bad. One of our previous dogs had a really bad smell all the time and it turned out to be a skin infection. So be on the safe side and take the dog to the vet because some westies are known to have skin problems

Wash, wash, wash is NOT the answer. This can cause very dry skin which can lead to skin infections along with causing the dog to smell more than normal. Some dogs are just smelly, it doesn't matter if you bathe them. However, if you bathe your dog more than once every 2 weeks, you are bathing too often(especially if she doesn't run loose). Try cutting back and simply spraying a pet deodorant on her.

Could be an anal problem, but it doesn't sound like it. It could be food allergies also. It also may be yeast in her skin. Check with your vet and see. If that is what it is you could try Selsun Blue Medicated shampoo. My vet told me to use it on my dog, and it is working. Not immediately, because you have to kill the yeast, and that could take some time. But it has helped my dog a lot, without drying her skin out. I bathe her usually once a week, and it has gotten better.

hmmmmm.... dogs typically have an odor, but if it is really offensive... and you can't get to a vet to ask... try rubbing her down with a sheet of bounce until you can... She may have some kind of disorder that can me treated... or it could be what you are feeding her. I would ask a Vet, but the Bounce sheet or any fabric softener will help you for a while.

She may have a skin condition. Is her coat oily - dry - flaky- reddened- blisters- etc. Your vet will probably help you best, it could be a wide variety from a simple skin infection, mites or even allergies. Have your vet take a quick look.

Take her to a vet. She may have a skin disease, too much hormones. It is best to have it diagnosed. If nothing is found by the vet, tea tree oil shampoo works wonders.

It's quite possible that she has a food allergy. Try gradually switching her over to another brand of food, and see if that makes a difference. Or it may be one specific ingredient that she doesn't tolerate well.

I have a neighbor that swears by shower to shower! She says it even helped with a skunk Attack!
But call your vet and ask if something else could be wrong!
Better safe than sorry!

Another cause might be the ears, you may want to check your pooch for ear infection...that tends to cause a bad odor!
