Okay let me clarify on my last set of questions. It is not like he is some sick petifile. And, No it was not his step daughter. It was this girl that is almost 15, and he just turned 18. And he really didn't do anything except make some stupid sexual comments to her and lift up her shirt right past her belly button. Just being a typical 18 year old male, stupid, but typical. It is not like he was 30 and she was 10. He made a really stupid mistake. He has never been in any kind of trouble at all. Yes he does have a wife and a baby on the way, but he should be labled a cheater and not a sexual offender...don't you think?? I don't know but I really need some advice, he is my best friend and I know he had no intention of this happening.

OK girl if that's it then no not that much trouble. But ya something. they have too because too many others are not just playing around. and people need to now that when your 18 you are now legally responsible for all your actions. one thing to you people out there do you remember being that age I do and when I was that age I love the attention from older boys. Some girls lie about their age in hopes of snagging an older boy and when there parents find out its all about how the other person is all at fault and not anyone Else. Not saying that this boy was not wrong for doing what he did but let under stand that being labeled a sex offender for something like that would not make him a better man. Now he needs to know what he did we not right and not to do such again.

Wished I had gotten all the information earlier but didn't.
Going to give my two cents worth anyway. I know it won't help but might give you some insight.

I'm sure you've heard about the scales of justice. It's that statue of a blind lady who is holding a scale. One side tips a little... She is blind to represent "Blind Justice" which is inevitable in our society. The scales represent justice, although fair for the most part, does tip in favor of the other side on occasion. It is impossible for justice to be fair one hundred percent of the time. That's the reality of justice.

Your friend who made the small mistake is being treated under blanket rule so to speak. He has ventured into a part of law that is extremely unforgiving at this time. The general public is so upset about child molestation that the dam has burst and the water has to flow.

What happened to him is not much different than having two cans of beer and getting behind the wheel of a car. If you get caught it's driving under the influence and you will be punished. It doesn't matter if you are sober, you are going to jail.

In both cases, there are lawyers that can work the system but will cost an arm and a leg. I am sorry for your friend indeed and hope things work out.

Well, according to your username (rednekgrl).....i would assume that it was probably your cousin and not your friend. In either case, I would say that this 18 year old "man" should still be labeled a sexual offender because he made sexually offensive comments to a girl and attempted to lift up her shirt. The age (only adding fuel to the fire) really doesn't matter. He could be labeled a sexual offender even if the victim was 80 years old.

Let the offender go with a warning. There are much more worthwhile uses for limited law-enforcement and judicial resources than prosecuting what you described. I think that the girl could also use some more maturity and good judgement in selecting the men in her life.

If he has dependents like you say, he certainly should be released and charges dropped. There is no reason to ruin THREE LIVES because of one underage girl's bad judgement.

I hope this answers your question.

I have read your other questions, but my opinion has stayed the same, sorry. He did something really stupid, and if he offended the girl or pissed off her parents, then he should be labeled as something. I don't know about sex offender, but we still don't know the entire story. You say he lifted her shirt to her belly button....were you there when this happened? If he will lie to his wife, don't you think he would lie to you, too?

Sounds like he is paying for his stupidity. A hard lesson, by the terms of what happened.

Your friend sounds screwed. If he was a rich college boy he'd get away with it like all of the others who ply women with liquor at parties to get some action.
