I am 13, and have pubic hair. I don't like it to go outside of my underwear, but don't know how to get rid of it. I also don't want to tell mom! some friends say I should shave, and some say I should wax. What do I do to get rid of it, and how do I do it without my mom knowing???

For starters, I would trim the hair down if nothing else. It'll be easier to shave off if its shorter if you chose to do that.. Use care as to not cut yourself. I don't see why your mother would have to know you shave down there...you are getting to an age where something like that isn't entirely her business. Its a lot like shaving elsewhere in its own way. I don't suggest waxing. Waxing your own body is often painful and troublesome, and its hard to find a place that you would be comfortable going to at a young age.

The best way to shave for a first timer is to go slow, take your time. Some tips:
~Be sure to use a new razor and that the hair has been well soaked for 10-15 minutes in hot water. This will soften the hair and make shaving easier to do.

~Shaving with the hair growth will reduce ingrown hairs and razor burn, you won't get as close of a shave, but at least you won't be in pain later on.

~Be sure to use a soap or shave gel and don't go over the same area more than twice. Repetative shaving will cause razor burn.

Just be careful and and take your time, soon enough you'll be good enough to shave with your eyes closed.

Well, it has to be a certain length to wax, and it kinda hurts. Shaving is a WHOLE lot less painful, just remember if you shave, use plenty of shave gel and a new razor and try shaving the same way the hair grows. that will help a little with irritation. You can also get some stuff called bikini zone to help if it does get a little irritated. I'd suggest trimming it down and then shaving for a little while, until the skin gets used to it and then maybe try waxing. Shaving last a few days, waxing lasts about a month. Hope this helps.

Listen shaving is so medieval. I am hairy. My older sister gave me that advice when I was 15. I wanted to go swimming but my hair (at that time) went past the bikini area. Needless to say I had bumps and it was irritated. I had a great friend tell me to try waxing. I get this product from sally's beauty supply (don't get Sally Henson) I can't remember the name but its microwavable. I wax my arm pits and bikini area and I've been doing this since 17 and I'm 33 now. Also the good thing about waxing is that the hair growth is slower and hair diminishes/thins after time, to the point that sometimes you gentle rub and the hair can fall out. Due to the constant waxing the follicle becomes too weak to hold the hair, like people who constantly pluck their eyebrows sometimes they can't get the hair to ever grow back. Ask your mom to buy it, tell her you don't want to shave your pits anymore, that you want that hollywood clean look and she just might believe you. When you're in the bathroom doing it she just might think your doing your pits. Oh also its a little painful the first few times but you get use to it after a while. Hope this was helpful

It isn't that big of a deal, it is just a personal choice. One idea is to only worry about it when you are going swimming. Otherwise I would leave it alone, because it will get very itchy when it grows back no matter how you get rid of it. Just remember, once you start shaving, pulling, waxing or whatever you hair anywhere on your body, most likely it will come back thicher and darker. If you are worried about what the girls say in the locker room, just ask why they are so interested in that part of your anatomy. Good Luck.

If you're a beginner to the whole hair removal thing and aren't really good with pain I'd say shave. Its easier but if you don't mind a little bit of pain and want the hair to stay gone for a while wax. It's all about what you think would fit your needs best.

Use an electric razor that can get wet and shave in the shower. Don't use the blade type of razor, it will leave bumps and welts on the shaved area and will itch like crazy. And if you're old enough to have pubic hair, your mother should just understand the need to keep it groomed.

If you Shave it comes back even worse and it itches when it comes back. Save up some money and get a wax after school or something like a girls nite out. It doesnt come back for a long time. BUT IT HURTS!!!!!!!!!!! Good luck!

i understand, im 12, and i wouldnt want to talk to my mom about it either. i kno im a year younger than u, but whats the difference?? ya kno?
kk, anyways... i hav never waxed b4, even tho thats prolly the best way to get rid of hair there, but i just shave once in a while where i dont want it showing(u no...out of my underware line). its hard being a girl, wen we have bikinis, and bikini/low rise (whatever) underware. also, if u cant shave or wax right away, try to get 'boy shorts underware' so the hair dosnt show really.

.:good luckk!!:.

It's pretty normal- and your mom's not going to care. Every woman that wears a bathing suit trims her hair so that it doesn't stick out- and most young women today trim it further (if not all the way).

But- if you really don't want to talk to your mom about it - that's cool. Tell her you want a nice electric razor for xmas- to do your underarms and legs. Then- you can use it whereever you want. Make sure it has a little trimmer attatchment.

The only way safely that is,is if you ask you mother for advice.Shes probably been in that same situation before and knows how to handle it.And no place where they do waxing down there or trimming professional would allow a thirteen year old to do it with out an adult present.
