I'm a big "money waster" too then, but what i did this year that was fun and the dogs loved just as much, was I baked them some christmas cookies that were safe for them!! I used cute cookie cutters. It was fun to do and my dogs LOVE them!!!! VERY inexpensive!! My cookies had peanut butter, whole wheat flour, baking powder, and skim milk in them!! Easy!

I don't think so, after all you'll probably end up buying them things later on anyways. So why not give them something at Christmas, they are a part of the family too. I've always given my pets Christmas presents and they have stockings as well :-)
Unless your really really tight on money then no I don't think it's a waste.

No, it's not a waste of money! And even if it was, I'd do it any way. With everything that my dogs and cats have given me: the love, the loyalty, the entertainment, the protection, the security, the counseling, etc., how on earth could it possibly be wrong to give them a special toy or a special treat when everyone else I love is getting something? If you enjoy getting them something, then it's worth every cent. If it's a waste of money, who cares? I can honestly say my pets are worth more than any amount of money. Happy Holidays!

I treat my Boxer like a child--buying her b-day and Christmas presents. Just tell your husband that if you had kids the money would be buying the same things. So no, I don't think you're wasting your money. Your husband is just not very understanding.

No it's not a waste of money. I have six dogs and I love them more than any person. I buy my dogs christmas presents and birthday presents every year.

It's not a waste of money at all. Dogs are just people trapped in dogs' bodies. They love getting gifts, too. What dog doesn't like getting to chew a brand new squeaky toy? It really doesn't matter what day they get it, but it makes it more special for you to give it on Christmas.

If it makes YOU happy, it's not a waste of money. If it's going to cause strife with your husband though, the dogs don't really care one way or the other.
I think what's most important here is to talk to your husband and make peace with him about it. Financial disagreements can end marriages, and having different priorities is a big source of disagreements.

No, he is not right..the spirit of giving is never wasted.. the dogs may not know it is a holiday, but they do know that they are included in this happy time, and it is good and healthy, as part of the family, to be included..
Most of all..is YOUR enjoyment of giving to them! Ask your husband if he would just consider this a part of YOUR Christmas gift from him, with love..

Tell your husband that no matter what he says or thinks about the waste of money for the dogs, "the dogs still love him".

Girl, I do the same thing with my 2 dogs! NOT AT ALL.. if you got the money and are able to afford it I say do it! Those dogs are probably like children to you as mine are to me.. he'll just have to understand.. my boyfriend don't get some reasons why I treat my dogs that way either but....its because I WANT TO! I love them.. and to show them I do special things for them some may think its crazy.. but I don't and believe it or not ALOT of other people do the same as we do :) Keep on loving and enjoying your babies :)
