They are both the same medication, just different brand names. The strength depends on what amount of medication is in the pill.
They are both a combination of hydrocodone and acetaminophen in some combination between 5/500 and 10/650.
Vicodin is usually 5/500 or VicodinES is 7.5/750
Norco is usually 7.5/500

Norco and Vicodin are the same chemical. So they both have the same amount of hydrocodone in them but the Vicodin has a higher dose of tylenol in it. That's it.

Norco is a powerful narcotic painkiller. It is similar to Vicodin but is stronger. Vicodin contains 5 milligrams of narcotic (hydrocodone) and 500 milligrams of Tylenol. Norco contains 10 milligrams of narcotic (hydrocodone) and 325 milligrams of Tylenol.

It also depends on which one your body responds to better. some people have a higher tolerance to pain medince than others.
For instance: medicine with codiene does nothing for me, yet a double dose of percocet combined with ibeprofren (sp?) makes a dent in the pain. Some one percocet will knock their painout.
You may have to try different types until you find the one that works.

They both contain hydrocodone and acetaminophen so there should be 2 numbers giving the dosage of each and you may compare these as to which is more potent.

there is also vicoprofen 200/7.5 which is hydrocodone and ibuprofen
